New play equipment for Holbrook Park

Holbrook Road has a small park with a children’s playground and football area, a few doors away from Homerton Children’s Centre. It has a range of play equipment: a slide, wooden climbing frame/ obstacle course, swings, a few springy things, football goalposts and a picnic table.
The wooden equipment came about as a result of a petition by local youngsters in 1996 and the picnic table was also something requested by local residents, so there is a tradition of the community having an input. When I heard that the City Council was planning to spruce the park up and instal a few new pieces of kit, I asked if we could run a small survey of park users. The Council has agreed we can canvass local views.
There is enough money for two new things, one piece from Category 1 only, and both from Category 2 if required. Please take a look at the pieces of equipment shown here and let me know what you think. All opinions welcome, especially children’s!

We have 4 children aged 9,7,5,3 and live on Glebe Road. We used to use the Holbrook park a few times per week but my older children now prefer to go to parks with more challenging equipment. We would therefore vote for rotator 2 and Climber 1. Our actual preference for new equipment would be a new set of swings for older children. We love the Holbrook Park and have spent many hours there but do think a couple of items for older children would greatly enhance the park. Thank you!
Thanks for the comment, and for the background. The park is intended for younger children (up to about 10) so yes, something with a bit more of a challenge would be good. I’ll feed back the idea of swings for older children too.
It would be great to have some new things in the park. My 5yr old likes the look of climber 1 and rotator 2! Those springy things aren’t great in my opinion as only 1 child can use them at a time.

Hi there, we live on holbrook road and my four-year old and I love the look of the climber – challenging and fun. Also really would love to see some swings for older kids there. We used to make a lot of use of Holbrook park but are now walking to nightingale to use more challenging stuff (flying fox a big hit). ~Many thanks for taking the time to canvas views …
We like the look of climber 1 and rotator 2. I agree we need some things for older children, it would be nice to have an aerial runway or big basket type swing. Thanks.
We use this park regularly. My 7 year old and 2 year old like the climber. My 5 year old votes for rotator 2. Mine never really use the springy units in other parks. I agree more swings would be good.

I had a good response from families in the area.
The most popular item was the Climber, followed closely by Rotator 2 and I have informed the City Council of what everybody said.
I’ve also passed on some other comments about the park, including requests for swings for older children and for better maintenance, eg grass cutting and cleaning.
