COVID-19 cases in Cambridgeshire

by admin on 11 May, 2020

I am indebted to James Berry for his regular analysis of the COVID-19 statistics to show the picture in Cambridgeshire. James drills down into the figures provided by Public Health England to get the local picture. In Cambridgeshire we are faring better than elsewhere. Here are dashboards, starting from the beginning of March. The latest data cover the last 9 weeks.

James reports:

“We may be over the peak. Considering the 7-day daily moving averages, both the number of new cases and the number of deaths in Cambridge hospitals are slowly trending down.

Public Health England have now started publishing figures for Cambridge, with the last 3 days now included in the chart showing estimated cases as % of population.  I estimate that only 1.6% of Cambridge residents have been infected, which compares with 1.4% in Cambridgeshire, 2.9% in London and 3.3% in the rest of the UK. Until recently the infection rate in London was well above the rest of the UK, but is now lower.

The figures on deaths in Cambridge hospitals are published every week or so by Cambridge News and the latest figures are to 5 May, when there were 4 deaths.

I have included a one-off report by the Office for National Statistics, which has information on the deaths of Cambridge residents by residential area from 1 March to 27 April.”
