Transport to the language schools

The language school is 30 minutes’ walk from our house (1.5 miles or 2.4 km).

Turn right from Holbrook Road into Hills Road, then walk down Hills Road, past the Botanic Gardens, thetn turn left into Bateman Street.

Buses
Several buses go from Hills Road. The best buses are Citi 1 and 7. The bus stop is 5 mins walk from our house and the bus takes about 10 minutes. Here is an interactive map for the buses.

On the way to school and town the buses say Arbury. On the way home it says Addenbrooke’s, Fulbourn or Cherry Hinton.

Going to school or the city centre, turn right from our house and walk up Holbrook Road to the main road, Hills Road. Cross over and there are two bus stops – you can use either.

Buses stop in the city centre outside the Grand Arcade shopping centre in St Andrew’s Street. Returning home, go to Emmanuel Street and our stop is opposite Subway.

Coming back from Studio or town, tell the bus driver you want to get off opposite the Perse School. SJTEYou want the stop after the church so wait until you have passed the church, then ring the bell. Walk up Hills Road and turn left into Holbrook Road.

NB Hold out your arm to make the bus stop and keep it out till it to alert the driver.

Someone must press the button to get the bus to stop.

Bus drivers like the correct money and will not take large notes.

Trains
The railway station is 20-25 mins’ walk from our house and most of the buses from Hills Rd go there – same journey as for Studio. Trains go direct to Norwich, Leicester, Ely, London and Stansted Airport.

Taxis
Panther, tel. 715715. Approx £10 from the city centre. Say ‘Holbrook’ Road clearly, otherwise they may take you to Hobart Road, which is not near us. If they ask you which end, say we are in the middle opposite the children’s centre.
